UPDATE: It has come to my attention that people are thinking that I am supporting McCain with these pictures. I respond by saying, if you think I am Pro-McCain, Pro-Republican, Pro-Lipstick, then you might not know me very well.

I made these hot pics today to show my and the Dallas Maverick’s support for the McCain/Palin 08 ticket.

Anyone can repost this, if you’d like.

Girl Talk rocks RADly

Date August 19, 2008

To start, have you said “rad” yet today?

Anyway, Girl Talk is a pretty popular dude right now. A former desk jockey in Pittsburgh, I’m pretty sure he’s quit his day job because he’s in high demand.

His third LP dropped about 2 months ago and if you need a background, he is a mashup DJ. He is the mashup DJ, if you ask me. He crams samples and tracks into 1 song better than Pert Plus crams conditioner into their shampoo. His last album took a noticeable change as he said that he wanted to let key samples stretch out a bit more than they have in Night Ripper and Unstoppable.

I’m not big on politics but…

Date July 31, 2008

I don’t like politics a lot and I really don’t like campaign videos,
but over at the McCain campaign headquarters they’re putting out some
doosies. This one claims, he is too cool. With Paris Hilton and Britney
Spears as examples, how can I stop thinking he is too cool. Cool means
he cannot lead.

I’m waiting for the rebuttal by Obama, with McCain doing the
jitterbug while images of grandfather time and Abe Vigoda are shown
behind him. Is too old more damaging than too hip?

Also, check out Barackbook, a facebook copy about Obama and the crazy people he is associated with. Check out the video after the link.

China’s pastimes: #1 Ping Pong

Date June 10, 2008

When China isn’t polluting or putting torches on buses, they like to get down and dirty on some athletic competitions. Ping Pong’s name likely comes from the Chinese name, ping pang qiu, which is ping pong ball in english. This continues the trend of sports having qiu in the name of sports (lanqiu is basket ball, etc). Here it is played like it is much more than the family sport I have come to see it as.

Earthquake story continues on Wuhan TV

Date June 3, 2008

After the earthquake, rounds of donations were taken from all different groups of people I know; school, coffee shops, probably even bars. The next logical step was to put 3 foreigners on a ridiculous TV show, so the international opinion could be on Wuhan TV 7.

Three days before filming, one of the actors from the show came to our school to discuss the program with us, Avril and one of the principals. He said that we would be brought up to the stage and each asked 1 question, which he then asked to gauge our reaction. I was told to come up with a suitable slogan that sounded good in English and Chinese to promote the community coming together and being strong.

The Olympic torch relay fever hits Wuhan

Date June 2, 2008

Saturday, May 31, the Olympic torch was to pass through the city I live in, Wuhan en route to Beijing. Earlier in the week, while with my sister, I thought I would skip out on this event due to the crazy amount of people that would definitely be in attendance. But as it got closer, I realized the significance of the event and when Linda asked me to attend, I knew I should.

VIP at the Wedding: the Epic Conclusion

Date May 15, 2008

After photographs in the bedroom, we got in a Benz. That’s right. A Benz-olino. It is pictured here. This was the nicest car I was ever in. Then in our hot ride, we joined the wedding procession, which is similar to a funeral procession where there is hopefully no break in the car caravan.

Chinese Weddings are made for VIPs

Date May 12, 2008

Saturday morning, the wake up call was for 7 am. My alarm clock forgot to wake me, but the 8 am door knocking was successful. It was time to leave for the wedding.

This was my first Chinese wedding and I wasn’t sure what to expect especially because I didn’t know the people getting married. This invitation was given to me and my fellow foreign teachers through a bit of a joke. Linda, my favorite friend told me her boy’s sister will get married and I said, “Can I go?” expecting that it would be more difficult than “Yes.” He said the couple would be honored to have us at their wedding.
