Who exactly is buying this product?

While reading consumerist this morning, I noticed quite the offer for all of you technology fans out there. This product combines fake tech devices with drinking for an incredible result: the Stealth Cell Phone Flask.

Pictured (borrowed from the company Homebarsource.com) on the left is the package deal. It comes with a case and belt clip so you can look like you bought a strange looking phone about 6 years ago and just stuck with it even with all the Iphones, Razors and Chocolates being peddled. It doesn’t even have numbers, how hard would that be?

Some of the feedback for this is pretty good.

E.A. Wineke said, “A friend gave me my cell phone flask last year and I love it! I have Captain Morgan on speed dial. I don’t go out that much to bars but when I do, I really don’t want to pay the exorbitant prices for liquor. So I order a soda and make a phone call to the captain, and I’m good to go! It’s also good for pool parties because it’s metal and so won’t break it I drop it.”

Pants felt the same way. He stated, “More convincing than expected! The leather case is just like a regular cell phone case and has a belt clip on it. I snuck this into a college football game, and while they searched my bag, they didn’t look twice at the “cell phone” hanging off my belt (which was filled with bacardi!). I wish it could hold more than 4oz but the “phone” is already big enough to be from 2001 hahah.”

Upon further inquiry at this company’s website, I was able to find the binoculars flask also for this. This one is a lot fancier, with a wooden box, but also more expensive.

Both are kind of ridiculous purchases. I personally cannot think of someone I know that carries a flask. Also, if you’re ready and at ease about carrying a flask, why are you putting it at your hip?

What I want to know is… who has a need for this product?

Luckily phones are getting bigger again-just look at the iphone or a blackberry, I would love to see one of those in flask form. Also I’m guessing there are no numbers to prevent drunk dialing.
